How to License Adobe Software

Introduction

The University of Kentucky utilizes Adobe Named User Licensing for most Adobe software on personal computers and single-user workstationsThese Adobe products include:

• Acrobat DC
• Creative Cloud apps (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, etc.)
• Captivate

Adobe products which do NOT utilize Named User Licensing (activation codes are included in the software download):

• Presenter
• LiveCycle Designer

Note: This article is not intended for use in conjunction with Adobe Shared Device Licensing (SDL)However, the “How to sign in..” section is applicable to SDL installations.

How to request a Named User License

Students and employees can request to have a Named User License assigned to their linkblue@uky.edu username (Enterprise ID) by submitting an Adobe License Request Form.

If you are not signed in to the UK Download site, you will need to sign in using your linkblue usernameFill in and submit the form.

Note: It can sometimes take a few hours for the license to become active, regardless of when you’re notified that the license has been granted.

How to sign in with a licensed Enterprise ID

1. The Adobe software will present a sign-in screenEnter your linkblue@uky.edu username and click Continue.
   Note: This will not work with a first.lastname or @g.uky.edu email address.
   
2. If you are presented with an option to select an account type, click Company or School AccountOtherwise, you will automatically go to the next step.
   
3. You will be redirected to the UK single sign-on pageEnter your linkblue username and passwordThen click Sign in.
   
4. The software should then activate and load.

Try, Buy, or Start Trial buttons

If you have signed in to Creative Cloud shortly after submitting an Adobe License Request Form, you may see Try, Buy, or Start Trial buttons on your applications.

You will need to sign out, allow more time for the license to become active, and sign in again using the steps above.

You can find the Sign out option by clicking the blue circle in the top-right corner of the Creative Cloud window.
